Neighborhood BBQ
The 4th Annual First United Methodist Church/Buell Area Neighborhood Association BBQ will be on Sunday, September 10, 2006 beginning at 11:30 a.m. There will be food, bands, children’s games, a “bounce castle” and always a surprise or two! Prayer Letters
Each Sunday members of this team prepare letters of support, joy and prayer from our “Sharing of Joys and Concerns” time during our worship service. At the conclusion of the worship service we ask members of the congregation to sign the letters that are then sent to the families or individuals for whom we’ve lifted up. Visitor Letters
Each week personal letters are sent to visitors from out of town who have attended our worship service. Coordinator Karen Brown, 865-6775.

Coffee House
In Fall of 2005 the First United Methodist Church hosted a Coffee Hour with the band Clean Slate from the Panton Communtiy Baptist Church in Addison County as our entertainment. If you wish more information, or if you would like to volunteer in some way, please contact Coordinator David Blanshine at dblanshine@gmavt.net .

Campus Ministries
The First United Methodist Church is part of the Christian Campus Ministry on the University of Vermont campus. We continue to encourage students of the University of Vermont and Champlain College campuses to worship and participate in other church activities with the First United Methodist Church. Our church is located in downtown Burlington and is just a short walk from both campuses.

Web Site
Under the direction of Webmaster Sara Barber, and assisted by Margaret Welch, our website continues to be one of the best of any non-profits in the area. There are constant updates and links being added.

Media Relations
Media Relations is an untapped source with lots of possibilities available for putting the word out about Burlington First United Methodist Church’s mission in our community and in the greater community of Chittenden, Franklin, Grand Isle and Addison counties. Inviting and Witnessing Media Relations will continue to work with other FUMC Ministry areas to announce events and happenings at our church. Inviting Ministries
The P.I.E. [Personal Invitational Evangelism] ministry is a very unique and successful way of reaching out to visitors to our church. Persons who are new to First United Methodist church and have attended our worship service two or more times are visited by someone on the P.I.E. ministry team who bring them a copy of the monthly Chimes, a brochure, and a “goodie.” For more information please contact Acting Coordinator Faye Lawes at FMLawes@aol.com .

Movie Night
As part of Inviting Ministries of the First United Methodist Church we plan on a regularly basis to either attend films, or show films at the church, that are central to themes of religion and spirituality and are worthy of mature dialogue. So far in 2006 we’ve gone as a group to see “The Da Vinci Code” and viewed “Bruce Almighty” at the church. After the films we have refreshments and discuss these films.
