The Volunteer in Mission (VIM) Program of the United Methodist Church serves where there is a need within the USA and throughout the world. Local church members have traveled to Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference, Nicaragua, Bosnia, Hungary, Ghana and Mozambique. Those who cannot travel support the projects through financial donations, putting together Medicine Boxes, Sewing Kits, Flood Buckets and School Kits, and many prayers.

We sponsor local mission projects as well, extending outreach to our community and neighboring United Methodist Churches. We bring materials and people power to area churches to improve their church building (inside and outside painting, retiling floors, fixing plaster, etc.) All of these efforts are a great way to meet people while giving a helping hand. Presentations by the volunteers on the places visited and projects completed are part of our awareness program.

Volunteer in Mission Fund
The First United Methodist Church Volunteer in Mission (VIM) Fund exists to provide financial support to members of this church to allow them to participate in the United Methodist Volunteer in Mission program, sharing their faith in Jesus Christ, serving with their unique skills and gifts in mission, and helping them develop new perspectives and gain new insights into issues confronting the global human family. This fund will also help finance materials for projects as part of our support to the mission and outreach of the United Methodist Church. The VIM Coordinating Team (consisting of the VIM Coordinator(s), the Outreach Coordinator and the Senior Pastor) will oversee this fund. Applications for individuals and projects (materials) are available on an ongoing basis and reviewed by the Team as they are submitted. The fund has been built through fund raisers, receiving a small percentage of the income from the Trustee Managed funds and through individual church member donations.
